The Iranian embassy in Kabul has expressed its willingness to join forces with the Taliban to tackle the issue of terrorism.

This declaration came in the wake of a violent assault on a Shiite place of worship in Herat Province, an act vehemently denounced by the Iranian embassy as a “heinous terrorist attack.”

The embassy articulated its desire to track down and bring to justice those behind “this heinous act.” Furthermore, it stated Iran’s readiness to enhance collaborative efforts with the Taliban in the fight against terrorism.

Local sources from Herat Province disclosed that the assault took place at the Imam Zaman mosque located in the Andisheh town of Gozara District, during the Maghrib and Isha prayer times, claiming the lives of seven individuals and injuring over ten others. The casualties included two women, one child, and four men.

The perpetrators of the attack managed to escape the scene, and thus far, no entity has stepped forward to claim responsibility.

As of now, the Taliban’s response to the incident remains unvoiced.
