UN Progresses Toward Appointing Special Envoy for Afghanistan

Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesperson for the United Nations, announced that efforts are underway to designate a Special Envoy for Afghanistan.
During a recent press briefing, Dujarric, while refraining from divulging further specifics, informed journalists, “The process of selecting a Special Representative is underway.” He underscored that an update on the appointment of the Special Envoy for Afghanistan would be forthcoming “soon” and would be disseminated to all stakeholders. In line with a resolution from the United Nations Security Council, the United Nations will designate a Special Representative for Afghanistan to facilitate the political transition in the country.
