The production and distribution of drugs, including methamphetamine, has increased significantly on the territory of Afghanistan over the last year, Kishvarsho Khushvakht, deputy commander of the Border Troops of Tajikistan’s State Committee for National Security, noted in his report on Wednesday.
“There has been an increase in the production of synthetic drugs, particularly methamphetamine. Along with this, a significant increase in the number of laboratories processing this drug was recorded,” Khushvakht said.
According to him, raw opium and heroin production and distribution have also increased.
Over 648kg of drugs have been seized on the Tajik-Afghan border this year. At the end of 2021, more than 4 tons of drugs were seized in Tajikistan.
